December 24, 2017 - Immanuel -- Hope - Galatians 4:4-7

posted Dec 29, 2017, 10:25 AM by Grant Garber
“A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.”
  • We all need hope desperately.
  • Today there are definitely false teachers and philosophies which try to take away our hope and offer other saviors besides Jesus, our true Savior.
    • Moralism
    • Rationalism
    • Romanticism
    • Pragmatism
  • We have hope because at just the right time, at just the right place, and among just the right people who were guided and protected by God’s Law which was their guardian and tutor, God sent His Son.
  • God sent His Son Jesus to become a human being just like every one of us, that is, born of a woman, and born under the Law.
  • God sent His Son to free us from the Law.
  • Paul reminds us that we have hope because the set time for all of us came when God sent His Son, born of the Virgin Mary, born under the Law, to redeem us from slavery to sin and death, and make us free, holy, and justified children of God.
  • As a child of God, we have Jesus’ Spirit who calls God “Abba, Father.”
  • Since we are God’s children, we are also heirs to a heavenly inheritance in God’s kingdom.
