  • We hear words every day, all day long.
  • Words are powerful.
  • Words are creative.
  • Eugene Peterson has written, “We are all textual persons. We are all following a script that someone has written for our lives.” The only question is: Who has written the words by which you live.
  • We in the church claim that we live out of the Word of God. But what does that mean?
  • Jesus Christ is the Word, or revelation of God, who has come in the flesh to be the God with us.
  • The Bible is the Word of God because it is centered in Jesus Christ and always draws us to that center.
  • The Bible is spiritually inspired; therefore it requires a spiritual reading. We must not impose our own agenda on it.
  • The Bible renews us in our communion with God, and as a result, it opens our eyes to the presence of God in all things.
