- Worship is showing or saying how much something or someone is worth to you.
- Criticism is a dangerous and delicate instrument.
- More often than not, harm is done because critics can’t keep persons separate from issues.
- Criticism often tells more about the critic than it does about the person who is criticized.
- Why did these dinner guests resent Mary’s act of worship so much?
- Because it wasn’t the way they would have expressed their worship.
- Because it exposed the idols of their own hearts.
- Radical worship doesn’t care what others think – it is totally focused on what Jesus has done, on who He is, and what He means to us.
- Jesus rejects the disciples’ criticism.
- He describes the woman’s act as beautiful rather than wasteful.
- He debunks the disciples’ claim that the woman is insensitive to the needs of the poor.
- He commends her saying, “She did what she could.”
- Jesus matches the woman’s gratitude by engraving her act into a lasting memorial that will circle the globe and be remembered for all time.
